"Liaisons is an innovative introductory French program that uses an engaging

film of the same title to help you explore the richness of the French language and the fascinating cultures

of France and the French-speaking world. Filmed on location in Quebec and in France, the film Liaisons is

a first-rate production with a stellar cast including the notable talent of Mylène Savoie (from the Canadian

film Exode), Guillaume Dolmans (from the French television series Coeur océan), and Johanne Marie

Tremblay (from the Oscar-winning film Les invasions barbares). We hope you will enjoy watching this

exciting film as much as we all enjoyed making it!

The textbook Liaisons will help you acquire a solid foundation of the vocabulary and grammar that

beginning level students need in order to express themselves well at this level. The activities have been carefully

designed so that you first develop confidence with the new vocabulary and grammar before being required

to produce it. Besides learning about the French language and France and other French-speaking cultures,

you will also have the opportunity to get to know your classmates and your instructor better as well as learn

interesting information from them as you engage in the language practice activities in your book.

As suggested by the title of this book and film, this program contains many liaisons, or connections and links.
