Using Russian Synonyms

Using  Russian Synonyms

Familiarity with the types of difference that exist between synonyms
(semantic, collocational, grammatical and stylistic) enables the speaker
and writer to find the exact word necessary to render a particular
meaning with a high degree of precision, or to communicate a
particular attitude or emotion (alternatively, to conceal emotion), and to
be sensitive in choosing the most appropriate word in a given context.
This is why Russian specialists encourage their compatriots to acquire a
facility in the use of synonyms in defiance of a language environment
where speakers, caught up in the hustle and bustle of modern living,
tend to limit their speech to the most general concepts.
